We've Got To Do Better

Monique Nelson and her son were taking family photos
before she was shot and killed as she shielded her son
from the gunfire in a Stockton Blvd shooting on Wed

SACRAMENTO COUNTY — A second person has died in a shootout at a Sacramento strip mall.

He has been identified as 20-year-old Marvion Barksdale.

Two men walked into Fly Cuts barber shop Tuesday afternoon along Stockton Boulevard and opened fire, their intended targets pulled out their own guns and returned fire.

30-year-old Monique Nelson was shot and killed in the parking lot of the strip mall as she was putting her son into his car seat. Her son was not injured and is now with family members. Although there may be relations between the other shooting suspects and victims, Deputies believe Nelson was an innocent bystander.

Three victims were taken to area hospitals: a 28-year-old man was wounded in the shoulder and leg, a 27-year-old man was hit in the leg and a 37-year-old man was shot in the stomach. A 39-year-old man was grazed on the ankle and was treated at the scene and released.

Two other victims had been dropped off at different hospitals on their own, and were believed to be related to this shooting. One was a 27-year-old man shot in the leg, and the other was Barksdale, who had been shot in the chest.

Investigators have not identified a motive for this shooting.

Anyone with information regarding this shooting is urged to call Sheriff's Homicide detectives at (916) 874-5115 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting (916) 874-5115 end_of_the_skype_highlighting, or Crime Alert at (916) 443-HELP. 6 Habits That Will Make You Go Broke

I found this article and thought it was worth sharing. One of goals for 2011 is to stop spending so much money on stupid stuff and start saving. Sometimes I look at my checking and savings account and think, where did all the money go. I'm guilty of a few of these habits.
Squandering money © RubberBall/SuperStock

1. Window shopping

It can be fun to browse the aisles and see what's out there. We all have our weak spots, like home goods, electronics or clothes -- even if you don't like to go to the mall. You don't even have to leave the house to window shop anymore; those catalogs, the Internet and commercials advertising the latest sale can be just as tempting.

Window shopping is a bad financial habit that takes some discipline to break. Staying away from your favorite retailers and not requesting catalogs or e-mail updates from your favorite stores is a good place to start. Before buying that latest item you pine for, ask yourself two questions: Do I need it, and can I pay cash for it? If your answer to either or both is no, walk away.

2. Carrying lots of cash

You know that paying with plastic is bad, but carrying lots of cash can be a bad habit too. Cash can give you the feeling of having extra -- fun money that's just sitting there.Online holiday shopping: 5 pitfalls

Carry only enough cash for what you need, and leave the rest at home. Avoiding plastic is great, but budgeting is just as important when choosing to pay cash.

If you like the green, try budgeting your cash with envelopes: one for groceries, one for entertainment, etc.

3. Saving your info with vendors

Those online shopping sites are so considerate to save your address and credit card information -- some even have one-click ordering buttons, so you can buy something in just a second. It's very easy and very dangerous. Not only does this easy shopping make you broke if you're prone to impulse shopping, it also eliminates the feeling of spending money, because all you do is click.

Don't allow vendors to store your credit card information. Avoid signing up for e-mails and catalogs if those tempt you to shop when you really shouldn't. It can be great to know about a sale, but if you didn't need anything, it's just another temptation.

4. Clipping coupons you don't need

We all feel the pinch in this tougher economy, especially when buying groceries. Clipping coupons is downright trendy today -- but is it really a good habit? Sure, getting 50 cents off that package of cookies or that brand-name detergent is a discount, but you may be surprised to find that your grocery bill isn't going down despite all your clipping.

The truth is that buying generic brands that are just as tasty is often cheaper; coupons can make us buy things we didn't plan for.

Start with a grocery list for the week, and then look at your clipped coupons. If you can use one, great, but try supermarket brands too for the best bottom line.

5. Shopping with your emotions

It was a rough week, or a good one, or you want to reward yourself for losing a few pounds, so you go shopping. You earned that new dress, that new gadget, that big pie -- it was on sale, too. Letting your mood dictate your buying decisions is the quickest way to go broke.

Sober up before shopping. Do you need these items, and can you afford them? Be honest with yourself. Reward yourself by doing something that doesn't cost, like taking a nice bath, or spending time with loved ones.

6. Not planning ahead

It's Tuesday, you're tired, and you have no idea what you'll make for dinner. A great night for takeout, right? Using data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, it's estimated that the average family of four spends more than $4,000 per year on eating out -- a very expensive habit that will make you broke in a hurry.

When you make your grocery list, make a menu for the week at the same time, so you always have ingredients for a meal. If your week is hectic, try cooking on Sunday and freezing meals for the week. Plan for lunches the same way; not only will you save money, you'll eat healthier by avoiding fatty restaurant food.

The bottom line

It takes some discipline to break these bad habits. With some planning, restraint, and avoiding tempting situations, you can break these habits -- and maybe even find you have a little extra cash at the end of the month.

For Christy....The Black Men Shortage!

Commentary: The Black Men Shortage
by Demetria L. Lucas

woman-sitting-with-laptop.jpg

If I could, I would climb under a rock. That's the only logical way I can think of to avoid the onslaught of articles, primetime TV segments, books, and countless blog discussions lamenting "The Black Man Shortage." (TBMS)

TBMS is something like the Black girl equivalent of those end of the world movies that come trotting out every three-day weekend to thrill us with CGI effects, remind us of the importance of family, and most importantly, churn out hundred million dollar returns for a big studio. Whenever anyone in media needs some sort of ratings bonanza or send their website's comments section into a frenzy, they-- the most recent being "Nightline" -- trot out a story about TBMS, a horrific tale of no love and lots of loss that depicts a single Black woman from [insert any urban center here] clinging to a half-empty apple martini, a Louis Vuitton Damier Speedy or a perfectly-coiffed girlfriends.

I watched the Nightline segment on YouTube the day after it aired (I was trying to avoid it, but my Blackberry Inbox blew up with emails titled "Have you seen this?") I yawned my way through all the stats that I've heard so often they run through my head like a CNN ticker:

*42% of Black women aren't married;

*If every Black man in America married a Black woman today, one out of 12 Black women still wouldn't make it down the aisle if they hoped to marry a Black man;

* 70% of professional Black women with B.A.s, M.D.s and J.D.s. are "still without the more elusive title: M-R-S."

I stared blankly at my Mac screen as yet another batch of extraordinarily beautiful (the woman with the dimples? Gaw- geous) and successful Black women lamented their loneliness. I kept staring, even added an eye roll, as Steve Harvey suggested single Black women date "older men." (Oh, that's all I have to do?) I watched, added a side eye for emphasis, and I wondered... three things. The first of which was, why are we still talking about this?

The Washington Post gave good ink to this topic two weeks back. Oprah covered it when Harvey's bestselling relationship guide dropped earlier this year. CNN dedicated the vast majority of its first "Black in America" to this subject. Terry McMillian's been talking about TBMS to the masses since at least the 1980s. The very first ESSENCE had a coverline, "Black Man, Do You Still Love Me?"... in the 70s. The Moynihan Report documented this problem back in the 60s when the Black marriage rate still hovered around 62%.

Fifty years later, we're still talking, but what are we doing about it other than re-hashing the same material? Where's the action? (And by action I mean more than advice like, "date older men.")

You know what else I wondered? Where are the news stories about White girls and Latinas and Asian ladies who can't find a good man? Don't they have issues too? Cause the ones I know are in my single boat, rowing around the Hudson River with me and looking for love too. There's this entire fictional franchise called "Sex and the City" (maybe you've heard of it?) dedicated to White women's search for love in Manhattan that women of all colors flock to in droves because its relatable. You know why it's relatable? Because 51% of American women are living without a husband, i.e: they are single. This is the first time in American history that more women are single than married. Fifty-one percent of Latina woman are unmarried, so are 45% of non-Hispanic White women, and 41% of Asian women.

So all that makes me wonder, where are the stories about all these American (ie, not just Black) women? Why are women who are hued like me always trotted out for national viewing as lonely (and sometimes desperate), with the not so subliminal subtext that Black men just can't show no act right? Why are we always the ones chosen to sit in freshly-permed groups in chic bistros discussing dating hardships like we're the only ones facing them. Why is what is largely an American woman problem being so widely portrayed as a Black woman's problem?

Last but not least, I wondered, where are the men in this discussion? I mean, yes, you have Steve Harvey on set, but he's a relationship expert and further, ineligible to date as a married man. I've never understood why in all the roundtables about why so many women are single, no one ever just asks a batch of men, "Hey, what's keeping ya'll from putting a ring on it?" Or better, why no one ever gets the single men and women who are supposed to be pairing off with one another into the same room to discuss why they're not getting together. Isn't talking about heterosexual relationship problems and attempting to solve them in same-sex groups absolutely pointless?

Which got me back to the point of wondering what the whole point of still just talking about single Black women and the Black Man Shortage was to begin with.

I Kanye shrugged, closed my Mac and turned on my TV to get my mind off Nightline.

Guess what was on?

An end of the world movie.

Watch Out Now...Caffeine and Alcohol

There have been a number of reports of college kids hospitalized after drinking something called Four Loko, an increasingly popular type of beverage that’s high in alcohol (12 percent, up to three times more potent than beer) and contains as much caffeine as a cup of coffee. Students at Ramapo College in New Jersey and Central Washington University consumed the beverage and ended up in the ER with signs of alcohol poisoning. And now alarm is spreading—and not just on college campuses—about the dangers of mixing alcohol and caffeine.

People are right to be alarmed, says Holly Phillips, MD, an internist in New York City. "Your body's natural response to intoxication is to become drowsy, and when you’re drowsy you have less of an impulse to drink." But when you add caffeine to the mix, you don't get tired and may not realize how buzzed you are. So you keep drinking rather than heading to bed or cutting yourself off.

But Four Loko isn't the only dangerous mix out there. Ordering a vodka-Red Bull or a Sparks (an "energy beer") can spell disaster too. You want to steer clear of any alcoholic drink that also keeps you stimulated and awake, explains Phillips.

That doesn't mean you need to totally cut out either coffee or alcohol, though. While it's obviously important not to overdo it on the cocktails because that alone can put you in all types of dangerous situations, having caffeine during the day and a glass of wine at night doesn't cause the same problems as Four Loko. "The alcohol and caffeine effects are most pronounced when they are being metabolized at the same time, especially in the same beverage," Phillips says.

FM Friday's: Coons, Goons and Crazies !!!

Ok the tile should be self explanatory; but just in case its not here we go.

Coons

Back in the day the word Coon was used as a derogatory term to describe a lazy, uneducated, and worthless person in society. Most of them where portrayed as Black people through Blackface or by actual black actors Such as Amos and Andy, Uncle Tom, Mammy Etc. Well unfortunately coonatry is still alive and well today. There are many, many entertainers as well as common folks who continue to perpetrate the stereotypes of coonatry. (Myself included) I’m from the old school, you know the days of Public Enemy, KRS-1, Paris, Xclan etc. So the first time I saw the Flavor of love show onVH1 I was devastated, confused and saddened to see Flavor Flav (out of all people) wearing gold fronts while eating fried chicken and watermelon.

My question was WHY??? Now we know money was the main reason, but talk about selling your soul to you know who or doing something strange for some change. And I’m not even going to get into these rappers. So whether you’re going dumb/stupid or riding till you dying, you’re showing the world that this is what black people do in the USA. TIME TO STOP THE COONATRY-TIME TO STOP THE MADNESS.

Goons

Well now that thug life is pretty much played out they had come up with something that would keep us fussing and fighting with one another instead of focusing on our wealth and health. So out came GOONS. You know?? Goons, everybody has some goons nowadays. (Rappers, entertainers, Club owners) Notice if you take the C out of Coon and replace it with the G from gangster you get a REAL GOON. Once again a stereotype that many black men try their best to live out today. (On each other of course) I was listening to a so-called Goon on the internet the other day and he had the nerve to say that the US constitution gave him the right to be a Crip gang member and that they had the right to assemble and if taken to jail for this that he would be a POLITICAL PRISONER. Political prisoner??? (WTF). Really, this must come from the same vein of  thought that everything’s a damn movement nowadays. Most people toady wouldn’t know a movement if it was moving up and down in front of their face. STOP CALLING EVERY AND ANYTHING A MOVEMENT. And as far as being a political prisoner NEGRO PLEASE!!! Prison was made for you and all the fools like you get over it and get a real life. (Minus bubba)

Crazies

Alexander Piggee: Suspect in Calif. Mall Fire Arrested
This Fm-Friday was just going to be about Coon, Goons and the destruction that they cause; however the lady of the blog (Ashley) wanted me to included Crazies so here we go. Last week here in Sacramento, Ca we had this CRAZY fool burn down our local mall. He went inside a Game stop and ordered everyone to leave claiming he had a bomb, gun, knife and bad breath. Well when everyone left he set the Game stop on fire. The fire dept. let the fire burn stating that the back pack could have had a bomb inside and that their safety was paramount. My question is that why be a fire fighter if you’re really that concerned with your safety? I mean isn’t this one of the most dangerous jobs in America? If there were 10 bank robbers in a bank with AK 47s would the police say “Hey let them go, too dangerous for me” I doubt it!! Plus if you seen this cat you would known that he can’t afford to pay attention, let alone afford a bomb or bomb making materials. So now we have a mall of all things burned to the ground, people out of work, and one crazy man going away for a long long time. But I can’t stop thinking of who was crazier the guy who started the fire or the fire dept. Let me know what you think???

I Don't Trust It!

A birth control gel that is applied to the skin could offer woman an alternative to the Pill, say experts presenting latest trial data. Used once daily, it delivers hormones to prevent a pregnancy in the same way as oral contraceptives do. Early studies show the gel is effective and well tolerated, with none of the typical side effects associated with the Pill, like weight gain and acne. The Nestorone gel is being developed with drug firm Antares Pharma.

Researchers told the American Society for Reproductive Medicine how they hope to bring the product to market if clinical trial results continue to be positive. The gel can be applied to the abdomen, thighs, arms or shoulders and is quickly absorbed, with no residue. Experts say it is also suitable for women who are breastfeeding, unlike the combined Pill which can interfere with milk supply.

Dr Ruth Merkatz from the not-for-profit Population Council research centre in New York led the latest study, which involved 18 women in their 20s to 30s. Over the course of seven months, none of the women using the treatment fell pregnant. Hormone studies showed the gel suppressed the production of eggs by the ovary. The research found the optimum dose of the gel was 3mg a day.
"It's in early stage development but if we move on, we will obviously test it in many, many more women." The researchers say it could offer an alternative to the Pill, which is used by over 3m women in the UK alone. Natika Halil, director of information at the Family Planning Association, said: "Any contraceptive system that increases the choice of methods available to women and helps to prevent unwanted pregnancies is welcome.
"This product won't suit everyone and will only be for women comfortable (with) putting it on their skin and having their contraceptive cover that way."

Question: Can I rub it on my BF in hopes that the exposure it has on him will rub off on me or be so potent that when his sperm meets my egg it'll either die or my egg won't become fertilized? Why do I have to use it? When are there going to be some creams, lotions, patches, pills, gum or whatever for men to take to control birth?

I don't trust it! I know many women who have gotten pregnant using the pill, patch and shot. Now, there is a gel/lotion you rub on. Man, HELL NO! The other methods are risky enough.

How Not to Marry the Wrong Guy

Cosmo gives 6 easy ways to make sure ladies are chosing the right men for the right reasons. I like this article and thought that I would share with you all.

1. Don't Just Dismiss His Past

Is there a chapter of your boyfriend's history that bothers you because it so doesn't sound like the guy you know? Then you need to decide if your relationship could survive a repeat, because odds are good that old habits will return.

"The best predictor of his future behavior is his past behavior," says Orbuch. If his relationship history is a sordid tale of flings and bitter exes, it's tempting to think that you're the one woman fabulous enough to reform him.

2. Own Up to What You Need

So you love that your guy is a foodie or a stylish dresser. That's all great, as long as you're not so dazzled by those qualities that you overlook the fact that he's lacking more important ones.

"I tell my clients to draw a big circle with a smaller one inside it and then fill the inner circle with four or five qualities they absolutely need a husband to have, like sharing their views of religion, family, or money," says Lombardo. "Then they fill the larger circle with nice-to-haves. You should look for a partner who has all the inner-circle qualities and a few of the outer ones, not the other way around."

3. Take Off Your Future-Goggles and See Him as Is

Say he's an MBA student with big plans to become a CEO. Will you feel just as lucky to have him if student-loan bills are the only concrete result of that degree? "Remember that you're marrying the guy he is now, not the man he might be one day," says couples therapist Jennifer Gauvain, coauthor of How Not to Marry the Wrong Guy. "It's great to be attracted to his passion, because that will stay consistent, but don't get attached to a certain potential career or financial outcome."

You need to be okay with the possibility that the rest of the world won't be as convinced of his talents as you are. "This is key because frustration with the difference between what you expected and the reality you got is one of the leading sources of marriage unhappiness over time," says Orbuch.

4. Beware His Family Dynamics

Depending on how close he is to his family, it's not just him you're marrying. And while you might be able to ignore them now, his family will play a big role in your life once you're hitched. Remember that these people will be not be just at your wedding but also at roughly half your future holidays, at the hospital when your children are born, and quite possibly on your sofa for extended visits.

5.If There's No Spark, Forget It

With all this talk of shared values, don't forget this primal truth: There needs to be a sizzle. "In such uncertain economic times, it's easy for women to tell themselves that stability is more important than attraction, but you need chemistry for a relationship to work," says Gauvain.

Of course, if you've been together for years, you're not necessarily pinning each other down the minute you get in the door. But the urge to rip off each other's clothes should still strike on occasion. "Being successfully married means being more than best friends," says Lombardo. "Great sex won't make problems go away, but it can really cushion your relationship during the inevitable tough times."

6. Tear Up Your Bridal Time Line

"If you nudge her, a woman will often admit that there's a magic age she thinks she should be married by," says Gauvain. Whether your number is based on beating your biological clock or more random factors, like how old your sister was when she got hitched, it can hold power over you and put you at a high risk of marrying the wrong guy as that birthday draws close.

"When women feel they're falling behind on their bridal time line, they are more likely to settle for Mr. Almost Right," says Gauvain. "They're scared of having wasted precious time, so they stick with guys they normally wouldn't." To make sure that such fears aren't driving your decision, ask yourself if you would still be with him if you were younger. If your answer isn't a strong "Hell, yes!" then recognize your urge to put a ring on it for what it is: fear of falling behind on your time line and being alone.

If a desire to have kids is freaking you out, know that the traditional marriage sequence has gone the way of the VCR. Now, few people bat an eye if you get knocked up by a BF or have a baby solo. "Women should trust that kids will happen for them one way or another, and marrying the wrong guy isn't the best way to get there," says Gauvain.

Now, I usually don't fool around with Cosmo because they're usually on some freaky nasty stuff, but they are dead on this time. Lately, I've been guilty of #6 the bridal timeline. My magic number, since I was a child, has been 25 years old. And dammit, I'm that old now and there is still no prospect. So lately my magic number has become right now, LOL. I've also imagined my father walking me down the aisle and he passed away. So now, I'm banking on my papa and he's getting old.God forbid, something happens to him. My timeline is falling apart. But, I think I feel a little bit better about the craziness since I have identified my problem.

Are any of you guilty of the any of these or am I in the boat all by myself?

Black Men-Fried Foods, Sex & Violence

Ok I know your wondering what does Black men fried foods sex and violence have to do with the price of cheese? Well many of us black men are dying from Fried Foods (pork chops, fried chicken, French fries, bacon etc) Sex-(going swimming with no wetsuit) and Violence (genocide-the black on black routine killings in our community) My biggest question is WHY??? Now we all know that I have my own theories on this subjects but I would love to hear from you. However here are a few of mine. (You knew this was coming right??)

Fried Foods

I watched the movie Soul food the other weekend and I could really identify with Big momma. Church on Sunday and plenty of fried foods after church, either at the church itself (dinner plates) or at Big momma’s house afterwards. Well I came to really love fried foods regardless that a lot of my family suffered from high blood pressure, diabetes, weight problems etc. You couldn’t get this black man to stop killing himself slowly with food. Well I went the Dr office last year and guess what? I’m pre-diabetic. Well no need to worry though cause I’ve been working out and eating right ever since. I realized that many companies were targeting my fat black ass. Who you wonder?? Mickey D’s, KFC’s, Burger King and oh yes even round table pizza. So my thought is that I would rather live!! Hell there are too many things already out there to kill a black man and I wasn't going to let food be one of them.

Sex

Ah yeah here we go S-E-X gotta have it RiGhT?? Well it seems that many people are sleeping around nowadays unprotected. Well I’m just saying (especially to my young brothers) that it is proven that if you keep sleeping around you will one day get something that you can not get rid of. A BABIES MOMMA!!! Yeah thats right a babies momma, Hell Aids- babies momma whats the difference they both gonna kill you. With the babies momma you just going to be broke when you die. lol

Violence

Violence, this is my favorite love to hate topic. You see from 2008-2009 I had lost 3 cousins and 1 nephew, all killed by gun violence in the Bay Area. I had one more cousin shot in that time period but he survived. I was thinking to myself one day on how we could possibly curb this wave of violence that’s paralyzing many of our communities. Cause one things for sure if your from Sacramento Ca or Queens Ny theres some black on black crime going down. Why is this??

Yeah, yeah I know ni66a did this, ni66a said that, NI66A PLEASE!!!! It’s genocide of your own kind!!! It’s like look in the mirror and kill yourself, It’s like, like some Jim Jones drink the kool aid kill your brother type shit. DAMN I HATE THIS SHIT!! But then I digress, Let me know how you REALLY feel.

8 Reasons Black Men Date Outside their Race

"I am married to a Black man—dark-skinned, 100 percent cocoa. To me, there is nothing more physically beautiful on this earth. Notice I said physically. Outside of that, there are plenty of more financially, intellectually and emotionally stable options. It’s time to taste the unknown. There are just too many—too many bright and beautiful single Black women waiting for their Black prince charming, only to see more and more of them riding off with their porcelain-skinned beauties. My question is what are you waiting for—a baby and no ring? Black men are obviously seeing a lot in others they like. As an open-minded woman, I can tell you from experience some things about white are right. In no particular order, here are the reasons you should be giving vanilla a chance." (http://www.madamenoire.com/)

According to LaShaun Williams there are 8 reasons a black woman should date a white man. Go to madamenoire.com to read the full article. I discussed my distaste of the article with a fellow colleague and he came up with 8 reasons why black men date outside their race. Let me know what you all think about it.

Top Reasons Black Men Consider Dating outside their race:

1. Black women have a BWA (Black Woman Attitude)

Many grow up with some type of conflict in the household and learn that

Being confrontational, abrasive and aggressive is the way to solve all problems

2. Black women tend to be controlling.

Where you at? Who you with? Where you going? What you doing?

(Naw, you shouldn’t be doing xyz)

3. Black women also tend to think (more so then others) that they don’t need no man for anything. This mentality tends to show itself through their conversations and their actions. (Very counterproductive)

4. Black women don’t know how to make a Man feel like a Man. ( Cater to his wants & needs, and let him lead his family)

5. Black women have no boundaries when it comes to arguments. (Will call a man names like punk, bitch, talk about your mother, etc.)

6. Black women have too many expectations. (Expect everything)-(He broke, He Bald, He unemployed, He drive a Yugo)

7. Black women have entitlement issues. They feel that they are entitled to tear up your things or spend your money if they feel betrayed. (Not humble)

8. Too many baby daddies’. (Just Kidding :)....Not really :))

Random Foolishness at Work

People call my job all day with foolishness! I work in a career center where I help people find employment and people call all day long asking stupid questions like I'm omniscient.  And my co-workers....help them Lord.

From the customers:
  1. My best friend was in a car accident and died. He didn't have any family and I was wondering if you can tell me where his funeral will be held, since I have no one to contact to ask.
  2. I got three unempployment checks in the mail. I cashed one and I have the other two here in my pocket. When I called unemployment they said that their records show that I cashed only one check....can you tell me why their records dont show that I cashed the other two checks I recieved?
  3. I was calling to sign up for a GED class.
From my co-workers:
  1. My son is a southmore in high school.
  2. My co-worker and I were discussing the explosion in San Bruno and he said that he couldn't phantom the devastation. He cant phantom what those families are going through. I said, yeah I can't fathom that either. He looked at me like I was crazy, like I said the wrong word. (this is the same person that has a son thats a southmore in high school!)
  3. I received a phone call from a co-worker at a different site. She asked me how to send an email. Then she asked me how to save a document to her desktop.
  4. There is this new old man at work. When I say old man, this man is probably like 70 years old, creeping towards 80.

Old Man: “You know, Richard, I take a lot of medicine as I get older. For my diabetes and such…but you know what I don’t need.”

Richard: “What’s that, man? You know we’re all getting older and I have to take medicine now too. It’s not like it used to be..”

Old Man: “Well, what I don’t need, young man is Viagra. I got no problems there…it’s in my genes.”

I just about fell out and threw up all at the same time. Ugh!

Why I Hate the Grocery Store

I went to Food Co. last night. All I wanted was a bag of stir fry veggies and some damn vanilla fudge drumsticks. The store was crowded and the lines were long. I've never like the grocery store and every time I think about going I start itching. I'm itching right now thinking about it.

So at the checkout stand this asian lady in front of me is yelling at the cashier and telling him to make sure all the toothpaste she is buying is $1.00. She can't even get her money out for looking at the screen trying to make sure the 50 effin toothpastes she has on the conveyor belt is $1.00. The the asian lady behind me has a million stinky kids and they're all standing close to me. I mean they're literally touching me, they're standing so effin close. And the little boy is dressed like a girl, he had on a purple shirt with ruffles and flowers. WTH.

After all that, its my turn! Finally...I wanted to get out of there FAST. My total comes to $7.08. I gave the cashier boy $20.10 because I didnt want a lot of change. He looks at me and says, "so you don't want the two pennies back?" He was serious. He didn't know how to make change from 10 cents. What is the world coming to? I didn't have the patience to explain that he can give me two pennies instead of keeping them. So I looked in my purse for the exact change. And he had the nerve to look at me like I was stupid and say it's a nickel and three pennies.

I'd rather starve then go back to Food Co!

Crazy Cravings

Sometimes I get these crazy cravings. Today I wanted coffee flavored ice cream. The other day I wanted McDonald's french fries and vanilla ice cream. I had dreams about dipping my fries in the ice cream. Oh...and then there are days when I want cookies. Any kind of cookie! Choc chip, M&M, oatmeal raisin, peanut butter, sugar, coconut, choc chip muffie, butterscotch and peanut butter (visit your local 7/11 for a mix of two diff types of cookies)....

My cravings have been so strong that they scare me. I wake up out of my sleep wanting to eat! As I was thinking of coffee flavored ice cream today...I thought FML...I might be pregnant...but y'all know my baby dont want no babies. So what could it be? And POW! I had an epiphany!

I'm fat!

My Clock is Ticking

A lot of my female friends around my age, 25 years young, want to settle down, get married and progress towards having children. My friends that dont have children, really want children. And I'm starting to get that yearning as well...

I've been having these dreams and experiences. It seems like everything in my life is pointing out that I am missing a little someone in my life. So, I've decided to do something about that! My mother will not be happy and she even threated to kick me out if I went through with my plan, but I just cant help myself. Something deep down in my soul is telling me that I want a puppy. (I know y'all didnt think that I was talking about a stinking ass baby!...um, ugh!).

I had a dream about the puppy below. In my dream I left him at home in a box for a few days and he was hungry, but happy to see me when I returned. Last saturday, my hunny and I were at the mall and I saw the same puppy. We made eye contact...and I fell in love. As we walked by, the puppy got up, wagged his tail and wanted to come to me, but he was on a leash. Then I realized that the puppy that displays on my schools account screen saver is a white poodle. Thats three signs, and three is my lucky number.

I can't believe I feel like this over a dog, but my puppy clock is ticking!

My Mother is Crazy

I love my mom...

But she is crazy as hell! Check out the evidence!!!

  • She went on a walk through the neighborhood. As she was walking she saw a little girl learning how to ride a bike in her driveway. The girl was pretty big and she was a little older, so my mom guessed that something was wrong with her (as in she was probably slow). There was a black SUV or as my mom calls it an SVU in front the driveway. The little girl peddled down the driveway on her bike toward the SVU and POW! She ran into the vehicle full force. My mom fell out laughing. Now y'all know that aint right!!!
  • My mom is scary....I mean scary! The front door must be booby trapped at all times so she can tell if someone has been in the house or not. Below is the front door with the rug pulled up. There is also a piece of cardboard stuck between the door and the frame. If she comes home and the cardboard isnt there or the rug isnt pulled up someone has been in the house.

  • The alarm goes on at 9:30pm sharp! I cant open any windows or go out of any doors after that time. If I do the alarm will go off and she is pissed. I would turn the alarm off and then set it back if I had to go somewhere after 9:30pm, but she wont show my how to set it. Probably because she doesnt want me to turn it off and forget to turn it back on.
  • I let her babysit my beautiful betta, King, while I was packing and moving. I told her that he can eat once a day or once every other day. If he eats too much, he'll die. She left me a frantic message at work and said to call her back so I can check on the fish. I called her back and she said that he was at the top of the water flipping around. I said, okay...he's a fish. She said she feed him and he was still at the top like he was hungry. So she was going to feed him everytime he came to the top or everytime she felt he was hungry. I tried to explain that he was a fish and he is going to swim around, he doesnt understand being at the top or the bottom of the bowl. My poor fish is full...
  • And lastly, my mother is something like my granny...she is a hoarder! Yes, she has icy hot that is older than me. She has clothes that she will never wear, cant fit and are out of style by at least 30 years. She has so many clothes that she filled her walk in closet and my whole closet. Seriously....seriously...
My plan was to move back in to save money, but I dont know how long I can last. The first day I moved in I started looking for apartments and houses (not only because I miss my hunny, but because this lady is crazy).

Please pray for me!

They Messed with the Wrong Woman!

So.....

I got 20-30 calls from a number that showed up on my caller ID as 444-198. I answered and it was a man named Mike Davis, with a thick middle eastern accent, from the Federal Investigation Department. He told me that I had taken an online payday loan with Cash Net USA and I owed $370. I proceeded to explain that I did not receive $370 from anyone and I did not owe Cash Net USA. He read off my social secuirty number, home address, work address and driver's license number to show me he was legit. He then threatened me with legal action saying that there was a law suit filed against me, I was facing jail time if I didn't pay and that he felt sorry for me. I asked for proof that Cash Net USA deposited the money in my account or wrote me check and he said that they can only provide proof after I pay the debt.

Now, by this time, this man has pissed me off. I'm yelling, cussing and calling him a fraud. I hung up on him. He then called me back all day on both my cell phone and work phone. This man called me so much that I had to turn off my ringer on my work phone and completely turn off my cell phone!

I know that I did not accept a loan with Cash Net USA. So, I googled Cash Net USA and found that there is a scam where someone will call posing as a debt collector from the company. Since I'm smarter than the average bear I called Cash Net USA who had no record of me and confirmed that I have no debt with them. They were aware that there is a ring of criminals who pose as a third part of Cash Net USA. I filed a complaint as well as a report with the Federal Trade Commission.

Okay, so this all happened at about 9am. Do you know that these people are still calling me claiming that I owe $370. LOL...and when I told the man that he was a fraud and asked him his company all he could say was umm uh huh, which infuriated me. I went Judge Judy on him and told him uh huh is not an answer! I want your company name, physical address and telephone number so I can call the police. If you're a legitimate third company you will have no problem disclosing that info for payment. He hung up on me. I thought it was over...nope...still getting calls. I've filed a police report and then I'm going to put a fraud alert on my social security number.

For everyone else...please safegaurd your information. Be wary of reciepts you leave around, bills and mail offers that you throw away instead of shredding. Mr. Mike Davis might be calling you next.

I guess this man thought he could punk me. I am not that. Mr. Mike Davis, you are messing with the wrong woman!
